Justification

I have decided to settle on my idea for the drama as I felt that it was the most interesting of the four ideas. I think that it would be easy to cast as I can get teenagers because I am at a school and the comedian can still be quite young. Although I identified some cons with this idea I have thought of ways that I could overcome them for instance the problem with filming on a stage could be overcome by using the school stage and the audience does not need to appear on screen and so I would not need to have a large cast. In contrast the action genre the cons would be that it is hard to pull off and the budget would not potentially be enough for the production. This would mean that I potentially would have to get a loan which would be unlikely. On the other hand the horror genre I saw many cons at which I knew I wouldn't be able to cut for example; the effects like gore would be hard to pull off and may be costly to hire a make-up artist. Also the whole production would be costly. As for the comedy I saw that if the characters were on the run the film would require too many locations. Also it would be costly to produce the scenery such as a party. 

The horror idea was slightly stereotypical in its premise, there have been a lot of horror films which have similar stories and so audiences might not be very interested in it. In comparison the idea for my drama is quite unique and audiences would not necessarily know where the story was going. With the action genre, due to it being a short film not many people would be interested due to the duration of the film. Also with the comedy it is very similar to films which have already been produced, so wouldn't attract potential customers. Therefore with the drama due to it being unique it would appeal to a larger demographic.

Selecting Ideas

Drama:

Pros:
- Different so it stands out from the rest.
- A lot of possible directions at which the story can go.

Cons:
- A problem is if the main character is a comedian. There would be a lot of set up to have a stage and an audience.
- It would probably not be viable with a low budget.


Action


Pros:
- Attract more viewers due to it being a popular genre.
- It would have a unique setting. This could be the "London Eye", or a chase in "Oxford Street".
- Fast paced action sequences which fully immerses the audience.

Cons:
- Problems with how to pull of stunts/effects.
- Also budget may be too low to pay for the production.


Horror

Pros:
- The circus may be difficult but the abandoned house would be easier to with not much of a budget.
- Smaller cast would be needed.
- Its a realistic story line.

Cons:
- Effects like blood and gore may be hard to pull off. 
- Casting the killer may be difficult due to him being a middle aged man. 
- Could be quite expensive to cast.


Comedy

Pros:
- With the drama there is a lot of opportunity for different directions at which it could lead to. 
- Age group of the main characters would be easy to cast due to being in a school.

Cons:
- Perhaps being on the run it would require too many locations to film.
- Party would be difficult due to needing a large group of extras. (costly)

Short Film Ideas

Where it leaves of with in the drama section genre, and attempts* it then says they attempt to try ruin the live show to get revenge.
